CLOSING MEETING OF CONTINUOUS TRAINING CLASS ON INTERPRET SWALLOW IMAGES

On the afternoon of September 23rd, 2024, closing meeting of continuous training class with topic "Interpret swallow images" was organized, closing and awarded the certificate of continuing medical training in the field of interpret swallow images to the trainees.
Representing the Leadership, Dr. Cam Ba Thuc - Director of the Hospital - Head of the Organizing Board of the class attended and chaired the closing meeting of the class with lecturers and trainees.

At the closing meeting, Dr. Cam Ba Thuc once again emphasized that many swallowing assessment tools have been developed, in which swallowing assessment by Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) has been recognized as the gold standard for assessing swallowing disorders in recently. Video Fluoroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS) is used by physicians and speech therapists to evaluate the function of the mouth, pharynx and upper esophagus related to swallowing. This is a contrast-enhanced fluoroscopic assessment method used to diagnose swallowing problems, determine readiness for oral feeding and/or dietary improvement, the appropriateness and effectiveness of treatment strategies, and determine appropriate swallowing exercises. After completing the VFSS procedure, physicians and/or speech therapists interpret and apply the results to determine a treatment plan for swallowing disorders and provide advice and recommendations to patients. Therefore, organizing a continuing education course on the topic: "Interpret swallow images" is very necessary and important to develop in-depth expertise in Rehabilitation for people with swallowing disorders. One of the important contents of the closing meeting is to evaluate the training process not only in theory but also in practice as well as final evaluation of the course. The Hospital Director also highly appreciated the efforts of the lecturers, teaching assistants and the enthusiasm of the students in participating in the class and hoped that the all departments in hospital would gradually coordinate with each other to use VFSS for patients and put the trust in the development of the field of swallowing disorders in the near future.
Based on the final evaluate results of class, the Hospital Director gave Certificate of CME on “interpret swallow images” to 30 participants according to the provisions of Circular 32/2023/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health./.
