HEARTWARMING FREE MEDICAL EXAMINATION AND MEDICINE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM IN NGOC TRAO COMMUNE

On the morning of May 31, 2026, at Ngoc Trao Commune Secondary School in Thanh Hoa Province, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Branch of National Rehabilitation Hospital, in collaboration with the Youth Unions of Hanoi Medical University and K71 Hospital, as well as the Youth Union of the Hanoi Medical University Thanh Hoa Campus, successfully organized a charitable medical outreach program for disadvantaged residents. The program provided free medical examinations, health counseling, and essential medicines.
This meaningful activity formed part of the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign launched by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Mass Organizations. The campaign aims to promote the pioneering and voluntary spirit of young people in contributing to community well-being.
Speaking at the program’s opening ceremony, Nguyen Nhat Linh, PhD, Secretary of the Youth Union of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Mass Organizations, emphasized the significance of the activity:
“The 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is not only an opportunity to encourage young people to demonstrate their pioneering and innovative spirit in serving the community. Through practical social welfare activities at the local level, such as this program, we also aim to create a meaningful environment in which young healthcare volunteers can develop their professional skills and ethics while cultivating compassion and a community-minded way of life.”
On behalf of the local authorities and residents, Luu Thi Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ngoc Trao Commune Party Committee, expressed her sincere gratitude to the volunteer delegation:
“Ngoc Trao continues to face many difficulties, with a high proportion of poor households and social policy beneficiary families requiring healthcare assistance.
This free medical examination and medicine distribution program provides highly practical and meaningful support. It helps ease some of the burden faced by residents while demonstrating the sincere care and solidarity of Youth Union organizations and medical professionals from national-level hospitals towards the health of our community.”
The program mobilized a team of 41 doctors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, medical technicians, and student volunteers. Priority was given to 300 residents from poor households, social policy beneficiary families, and people recognized for meritorious service to the nation.
The entire volunteer team from the National Rehabilitation Hospital Youth Union had assembled by 4:00 a.m., before daybreak. They quickly loaded the final boxes of medicines and medical equipment onto the vehicles before departing for Ngoc Trao, a former revolutionary base.
Despite the intense early-summer heat of Central Vietnam, the doctors, healthcare professionals, and young volunteers greeted and guided residents with warm smiles and attentive care.
The energy and dedication of the Hospital’s young healthcare professionals were evident in every meticulous examination and every thoughtful instruction on medication use, nutrition, and daily routines tailored to each patient.
Although perspiration soaked through their white coats, the volunteers’ eyes continued to reflect happiness and pride as they applied their professional knowledge and medical ethics to deliver practical social welfare support to vulnerable residents facing difficult circumstances.
Throughout the morning, doctors screened residents for chronic noncommunicable diseases and other conditions across general internal medicine, surgery, and ear, nose and throat medicine.
Residents also received diagnostic examinations using modern medical equipment prepared by the volunteer delegation, including abdominal ultrasonography, thyroid ultrasonography, electrocardiography, blood glucose testing, and blood pressure measurement.
Following their medical examinations and health management counseling, all residents received essential medicines free of charge from the program's prepared supplies.
The charitable program in Ngoc Trao Commune not only contributed to protecting and improving the health of residents in remote and underserved communities and easing the difficulties faced by social policy beneficiaries, but also provided a valuable practical environment for educating young healthcare workers about professional ethics, compassion, and social responsibility.
