SCOLIOSIS SCREENING FOR STUDENTS AT NGUYEN HONG LE SECONDARY SCHOOL

On the afternoon of March 22, 2025, towards the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2025), the Youth Union of the National Rehabilitation Hospital collaborated with the Sam Son City Youth Union to organize a scoliosis screening program for students at Nguyen Hong Le Secondary School. This is one of a series of meaningful activities by the hospital's youth during Youth Month, aimed at caring for and raising awareness about spinal health among the younger generation.
In the context of spinal diseases becoming more and more common, especially in high school students due to the habit of sitting in the wrong posture, wearing school bags incorrectly or lack of exercise. If not detected and intervened promptly, this condition can lead to chronic back pain, affecting the body shape, even causing difficulties in daily life later.
The screening examination received significant attention and active participation from 125 eighth-grade students at Nguyen Hong Le Secondary School. The students received thorough examinations by medical staff, including spinal posture checks, height and weight measurements, and assessments for any abnormalities. Consequently, students showing signs of scoliosis were given guidance on supportive exercises and advised to seek in-depth specialist examinations if necessary.
The program not only helps in the early detection of spinal issues in students but also raises community awareness about the importance of school health care. This is a practical initiative undertaken by youth union members, contributing to a safe and healthy learning environment for the younger generation. It also affirms the pioneering role of youth in humane and meaningful activities.
The National Rehabilitation Hospital extends its sincere gratitude to the Sầm Sơn City Youth Union, the Board of Directors of Nguyễn Hồng Lễ Secondary School, and the school's teachers for contributing to the success of this program. In the future, the Youth Union of the National Rehabilitation Hospital will continue to collaborate with various organizations to expand this activity, aiming towards the goal of "For a healthy young generation, confidently stepping into the future."
