On 17–18 October 2026, doctors and nurses from the National Rehabilitation Hospital worked with local authorities in Sam Son Ward to provide free health screening for priority population groups, supporting the early identification of health risks and improving access to community healthcare.
The program formed part of the 2026 intensive 30-day campaign to provide free routine health check-ups or screening, alongside the creation and updating of electronic personal health records. Priority groups included the elderly, people with disabilities, members of poor and near-poor households, and individuals recognized for meritorious service to the nation.
On 17 October, the hospital’s medical team provided screening services at the former Quang Chau Health Station for residents of the Quang Chau, Binh Hoa and Kieu Dai residential areas. On 18 October, the program continued at the former Quang Tho Health Station, serving residents of Hoa Chung and Quang Tho.
During the screening sessions, healthcare professionals conducted health assessments and advised residents on recognizing warning signs and potential health risks requiring further evaluation. Participants also received guidance on preventive care, self-care and seeking timely medical assessment and treatment when needed. Bringing these services directly to the community helped improve access to care, particularly for older adults, people with disabilities and those experiencing financial hardship.
Beyond the clinical assessments, the program raised awareness of the importance of regular health check-ups and encouraged residents to take an active role in monitoring and maintaining their health. Integrating screening with the creation and updating of electronic personal health records also supports continuity of care and provides a foundation for population health management as part of the health sector’s digital transformation.
The involvement of the hospital’s healthcare professionals reflects its commitment to community health and strengthens collaboration with local authorities to protect and improve residents' health and well-being.
Under Sam Son Ward’s plan, free health screening will continue in local residential areas on Saturdays and Sundays until 25 October 2026, supporting proactive healthcare and more equitable access to timely services.
