SENTIMENTS OF JAPANESE VOLUNTEER AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF WORKING AT THE NATIONAL REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

Yoshida Yumi is a Japanese volunteer who specializes in Physiotherapy. Yumi is a technician with many years of experience in supporting and rehabilitating patients. She has worked at Orthopedic Clinics, massage facilities, fitness clubs and at Horiguchi Memorial Hospital in Japan. Despite her many years of work, the early days of working at the National Rehabilitation Hospital still left her with many memorable memories.

Yoshida Yumi shared that, at first, she was very worried because she was not proficient in Vietnamese, as well as not familiar with the daily routine and culture of the environment here. Besides, the Spinal Cord Injuries Rehabilitation Medicine Department is an important specialty, there are many serious patients and she may have many difficulties in rehabilitation for patients.

However, over the first day of work, she was much happier. Because all doctors, nurses and technicians are very friendly and sociable. Everyone helped her not only professionally but also practice Vietnamese. For confusing words, people will communicate with her by using their phones to translate. Additionally, patients and their families are very attentive to listen and coordinate during the exercise. Therefore, her work was much more favorable.

Yoshida Yumi happily recounted the early days of her work. The volunteer hopes that her working time at the National Rehabilitation Hospital will help her improve her expertise, understand more about Vietnamese culture as well as master the Vietnamese language.
